Futsal Development Program
Welcome to our Independence Futsal Development Program page! Independence Futsal Developmental Program is for Futsal players looking to train at a high level. We at Charlotte Independence believe that Futsal is an important training tool for soccer development. Futsal encourages players to be creative, forces players to play out of pressure, improves a player's decision making, and develops player confidence on the ball. Our Developmental program is for players that are looking to compete and train at a high level. Players from training could be selected for Regional and National Tournament teams. (If Players are selected for tournament teams there would be an extra cost). We may also form teams for other local or CISC Futsal tournaments.
Curriculum and Session plans will be created by former US National Futsal Player and Current CISC Coach Pat White. Coach White is in the top ten of most games played and goals in US futsal history. In the 2004 Futsal World Cup, he played in every game and was the USA’s second-leading scorer in the tournament. The US lost in the quarterfinals to Brazil and the great Falcao. White is the only male player in US history to win two CONCACAF gold medals. One in 1996 CONCACAF championships in Guatemala and the other in 2004 CONCACAF championships in Costa Rica. Staff will also include Fil Wilkinson, Jay Lockhart, Emily McMillan.(In Emily’s first year coaching futsal, she qualified 2 CISC teams to the US Youth National Futsal Championships in Kansas City. Both teams did extremely well in their first Championship. Especially the 2009 girls who took home the championship and the gold medal. We will also have other CISC directors and staff coaches.
