Boys Academy | The Boys Academy is the top-level program for Independence Junior and Senior Boys. The Boys Academy teams will compete in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) which is the highest level of competition for youth soccer in the United States. There is a potential for national post season play in the summer if teams perform well enough.
ECNL | The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) is the highest level of competition for youth soccer in the United States. Our ECNL teams will compete in the mid-Atlantic Division of ECNL which consists of top teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia as well as several national level ECNL and Showcase events. There is a potential for national post season play in the summer if teams perform well enough.
ECNL Regional League | ECNL Regional Leagues (ECNL RL) are the second tier of competition within the ECNL structure. The ECNL Regional League teams are highly selective. The league consists of clubs throughout North and South Carolina. Independence Soccer Club currently fields two regionalized teams per age group (U13-U19) with one based in the south area of the Independence Club geography and one based in the north area of the Independence Club geography. There is a potential for regional and national post season play if the teams perform well enough.
Select | For the 2021-22 soccer season, the club will hold training centers with players who would form a select team to determine the strength of the program. This effort is with the goal of hosting a program for the 2022-23 season.
Pre-Academy | The Pre-Academy program in an introduction to national programs for U11 and U12 male players. Teams are formed regionally (north and south areas) and train and play at locations throughout the region. Teams will participate in leagues and events in the southeast region.
Competitive Programs [Blue/Tan/White/Navy] | Competitive programs are comprised of locally based teams. As they name suggests, however, they are competitive in nature. Teams play within their respective state associations (NCYSA in North Carolina and SCYSA in South Carolina). Team travel depends on the age and level of the team – while some teams generally compete in the greater Charlotte area, others compete state-wide. Teams also compete in several outside tournaments and showcases throughout the season. Blue level teams are our highest level of local competitive teams with a higher level of commitment required (three team trainings per week versus two) and generally see more travel for both league play and tournaments, while Tan, White and Navy level teams are generally considered more developmental level teams.
Youth Academy | Our Youth Academy Player Development Philosophy will be structured around creating confident, brave, creative, problem-solving players, focusing on individual player improvement, maximizing technical ability, ball mastery, and game-related decision making, inside small-sided game environments. All players will be encouraged to enjoy a love for the game of soccer through a fun, safe and active soccer experience, allowing players to drive their own development in an environment focused on player growth and development, over winning. Our Youth Academy development curriculum will center on creating a culture of excellence early in our players, maintaining high standards for hard work, respect, and teamwork. Teams in the Youth Academy may play other club’s academy teams in friendly type events or play in league play depending on the age group within the Academy.
