May 26, 2026 – Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) promotes Franco Stumbo to Technical Staff. Most recently, Stumbo contributed to the development of players within the club's Matthews State Competitive Program. In his new role, he will help lead player development and support the growth of the club's new competitive soccer program in the Mint Hill community. "I want to thank Charlotte Independence Soccer Club for this opportunity to continue providing the best possible experience for our players," said Franco Stumbo. "Growing up in a Uruguayan household, soccer and the Garra Charrua were fundamental parts of my upbringing. I always knew I wanted soccer to be part of my life, and I was willing to fight for that opportunity. I look forward to bringing that same intensity and passion as we launch our new competitive soccer program in the Mint Hill community." Before joining Independence Soccer last fall, Stumbo worked in pre-professional women's soccer as the goalkeeping coach for the Asheville City SC USL W League team. He also gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Warren Wilson College. "It did not take us long to realize that Franco is a hardworking and passionate coach," said Charlotte Independence Soccer Club Director of Soccer Neil Roberts. "He is committed to his players, his teams, and the program as a whole. His work ethic and drive align perfectly with our culture, and we are excited to have him take on a larger role within our staff." Stumbo is well versed in the evolving youth soccer landscape. His coaching experience includes working with girls’ programs at North Carolina FC Youth and boys’ programs at NC Fusion, giving him a diverse background in player development across multiple competitive environments. Stumbo currently holds a USSF C License.

May 16, 2026 – Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) hires Christopher Maimone to its MLS NEXT Homegrown staff. Most recently, Maimone served as the Director of Boys Player Development and MLS NEXT Homegrown Head Coach at Northern Virginia Alliance (NVA).  “I’m very thankful for the opportunity to join Charlotte Independence SC and become part of the MLS NEXT Homegrown staff,” said Christopher Maimone. “Charlotte Independence has built a strong reputation for creating a professional environment centered around player development, ambition, and long-term growth, which made this opportunity especially exciting for me. “Throughout my coaching journey, I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding players, families, and colleagues who have helped shape me both personally and professionally. I’m excited for this new challenge, and I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and helping players maximize their potential both on and off the field.” While at Northern Virginia Alliance, Maimone coached the 2011 and 2009 MLS NEXT Homegrown teams. As Director of Boys Player Development, he ensured players were consistently challenged within their development to prepare for MLS NEXT Homegrown competition and expectations. This included aligning and implementing the club’s philosophy, methodology, and competitive objectives across the program. Prior to joining Northern Virginia Alliance, Maimone spent a combined eight years at Richmond Strikers and Richmond United in multiple coaching and leadership roles, most recently serving as the Age Group Director and ECNL-RL Head Coach for Richmond Strikers. During his time there, he guided the Girls Richmond Strikers to an ECNL RL (VA) Championship and a Virginia State Cup Championship, while also leading two Richmond United boys teams to the ECNL National Quarterfinals. Maimone attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he played for the men’s soccer team while earning a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science. He later continued his education at Ohio University, earning a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences with a concentration in Soccer Coaching. He also holds a USSF A-Youth License and earned a Master’s in High Performance Football from MBP Coaches School, also known as the Coaches' Voice School.

He has been a mainstay with the Girls Regional Academy program, where he has been instrumental in the development of our goalkeepers and staff as well. When Josh came on board, he made an immediate impact within the club, which is a testament to his dedication to the goalkeeping program,” said Director of Coaching – Goalkeeping Matt Brown. “As mentioned, we hate to see Josh leave, but we couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity for him and his family. Known for his energy and commitment to his players, he has built a reputation for creating positive, competitive environments that help athletes reach their full potential. Chez consistently demonstrated an ability to connect with players while emphasizing technical development, game understanding, and character. In his new role, Chez will work closely with players and staff to continue building a strong developmental pathway and preparing athletes for high competitive programs in Mint Hill. “I've been developing players from the local Mint Hill area for 4 years with great success. With the backing of the CISC brand, access to top leagues, and being part of a much larger community, we feel we will now be able to offer the best soccer experience for our local players. May 4, 2026 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Independence Soccer Club is proud to announce the hiring of Ashley Williams as Director of Pre Girls Academy (Pre GA) ahead of the 2026-2027 season. In her new role, Williams will lead the club’s Pre GA program, focusing on preparing players for progression into high competitive programs while supporting their overall development both on and off the field. Williams brings extensive experience across the youth, collegiate, and pre-professional levels. She most recently served as the Girls Academy Director and U15 & U17 Head Coach at Skyline Elite Soccer Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she oversaw multiple teams competing in the Girls Academy Mid-Atlantic Conference while leading player and coach development initiatives. Prior to Skyline Elite, she spent two years with Richmond United as a Head Coach for U17 and U19 ECNL teams, while also serving as Operations Manager and College Recruiting Coordinator. Her experience also includes leading Richmond United Pro23 Women to a championship in 2021, along with coaching roles at North Carolina Courage, North Carolina FC Youth, and Randolph-Macon College. Williams holds a U.S. Soccer Talent Scout License Level II and was one of twelve female coaches selected nationwide for the program’s cohort, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with its objectives. She is also currently enrolled in the Girls Academy Credential of Coaching Excellence program, further demonstrating her commitment to continued growth and development within the game. April 22, 2026 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) is pleased to announce the addition of Angela Tucker as Mint Hill Member Services. A native of Charlotte, Tucker has been actively involved in the Mint Hill soccer community for over five years in both professional and volunteer roles. She currently serves as a Board Member for the Mint Hill Athletic Association and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Prior to her work in soccer, Tucker spent more than 15 years as a professional photographer. In her role, Tucker will support families throughout their club experience while helping connect players to the appropriate pathways within CISC. “I’m really grateful to be joining CISC because their focus on community involvement and player development is something I fully align with,” said Tucker. “I love helping families take that desire to see their player grow in soccer to the next level. Lowell brings extensive experience in sports and athletic development, having played a variety of sports growing up. He discovered his passion for soccer when both of his children began playing, which led him to coaching. He has previously served as a director in competitive club soccer and earned his 11v11 Grassroots License. In addition, Lowell has been elected to the Board of Directors and currently serves as acting president of the Mint Hill Athletic Association. He also holds a Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy and is a strong believer in the multifaceted benefits of sports participation. “I am humbled and excited to be joining Charlotte Independence Soccer Club,” said Lowell. “The club is so well respected in the soccer community, and more importantly, in each local community that it operates in, and this speaks volumes to the values and approach of the organization. March 17th, 2026- Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) signs Matt Levy to GoalkeepingStaff. "We are extremely excited to have Matt join our staff. His experience as a player will only enhance the development of our goalkeepers at Charlotte Independence Soccer Club," said Director of Coaching – Goalkeeping Matt Brown. "His coaching style will bring out the best in our goalkeepers, and we look forward to seeing them grow under his guidance." Matt is entering his fourth season with the Charlotte Independence USL League One team. He has made 31 appearances for the Jacks since joining the club. In 2025, he stepped into the starting role for the first time, making 28 starts in all competitions and recording five clean sheets. Now Matt will use his background to help develop the next generation of goalkeepers within the youth club. We look forward to the impact he will make on the pitch and are excited to support him during the upcoming season as he also joins Jon Bakero as another First Team player contributing to the youth club.
