June 1, 2026 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) is excited to announce the addition of Prince Ojok to the club’s Technical Staff. Ojok will coach within the Pre MLS East program, serving players and families in the Matthews and Mint Hill areas while supporting the continued growth and development of those locations. Ojok brings extensive coaching, leadership, and player development experience to Charlotte Independence Soccer Club. Most recently, he served as Director at Charlotte Soccer Academy, where he oversaw day-to-day club operations, player development initiatives, coaching education, and membership growth while also coaching teams within the club. His previous experience includes leadership roles with AC CT Soccer Club and CT Rush Soccer Club, along with collegiate coaching experience as an Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Western CT State University. Holding both a USSF B License and UEFA B Coaching License, Ojok has built a reputation for creating positive, development-focused environments that emphasize technical growth, accountability, and long-term player progression. His passion for mentoring young athletes and developing coaches aligns closely with Charlotte Independence Soccer Club’s mission and vision for continued growth. “A good coach can change a match, but a great coach changes a life,” said Ojok. “I want to help build something special here that leaves a lasting, positive impact at Charlotte Independence Soccer Club.” “Prince is a highly experienced coach and member of the youth soccer industry,” said Neil Roberts, Director of Soccer. “He has a great vision and will undoubtedly be a vital part of our growth and development plan in our Matthews and Mint Hill locations. May 26, 2026 – Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) promotes Franco Stumbo to Technical Staff. Most recently, Stumbo contributed to the development of players within the club's Matthews State Competitive Program. In his new role, he will help lead player development and support the growth of the club's new competitive soccer program in the Mint Hill community. "I want to thank Charlotte Independence Soccer Club for this opportunity to continue providing the best possible experience for our players," said Franco Stumbo. "Growing up in a Uruguayan household, soccer and the Garra Charrua were fundamental parts of my upbringing. I always knew I wanted soccer to be part of my life, and I was willing to fight for that opportunity. I look forward to bringing that same intensity and passion as we launch our new competitive soccer program in the Mint Hill community." Before joining Independence Soccer last fall, Stumbo worked in pre-professional women's soccer as the goalkeeping coach for the Asheville City SC USL W League team. He also gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Warren Wilson College. "It did not take us long to realize that Franco is a hardworking and passionate coach," said Charlotte Independence Soccer Club Director of Soccer Neil Roberts. "He is committed to his players, his teams, and the program as a whole. His work ethic and drive align perfectly with our culture, and we are excited to have him take on a larger role within our staff." Stumbo is well versed in the evolving youth soccer landscape. His coaching experience includes working with girls’ programs at North Carolina FC Youth and boys’ programs at NC Fusion, giving him a diverse background in player development across multiple competitive environments. Stumbo currently holds a USSF C License.
May 16, 2026 – Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) hires Christopher Maimone to its MLS NEXT Homegrown staff. Most recently, Maimone served as the Director of Boys Player Development and MLS NEXT Homegrown Head Coach at Northern Virginia Alliance (NVA). “I’m very thankful for the opportunity to join Charlotte Independence SC and become part of the MLS NEXT Homegrown staff,” said Christopher Maimone. “Charlotte Independence has built a strong reputation for creating a professional environment centered around player development, ambition, and long-term growth, which made this opportunity especially exciting for me. “Throughout my coaching journey, I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding players, families, and colleagues who have helped shape me both personally and professionally. I’m excited for this new challenge, and I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and helping players maximize their potential both on and off the field.” While at Northern Virginia Alliance, Maimone coached the 2011 and 2009 MLS NEXT Homegrown teams. As Director of Boys Player Development, he ensured players were consistently challenged within their development to prepare for MLS NEXT Homegrown competition and expectations. This included aligning and implementing the club’s philosophy, methodology, and competitive objectives across the program. His success in identifying individual player needs and helping players reach their full potential has led to athletes advancing to MLS academies, signing MLS NEXT Pro contracts, and competing within the NCAA landscape. “We are extremely excited to have Chris joining our staff here at the club. He has a strong presence on the field and is very experienced in individual growth and player development. His passion and energy are a perfect fit for us as we venture into our second year in the MLS NEXT Homegrown platform.” Said Charlotte Independence Soccer Club Director of Soccer Neil Roberts. Prior to joining Northern Virginia Alliance, Maimone spent a combined eight years at Richmond Strikers and Richmond United in multiple coaching and leadership roles, most recently serving as the Age Group Director and ECNL-RL Head Coach for Richmond Strikers. During his time there, he guided the Girls Richmond Strikers to an ECNL RL (VA) Championship and a Virginia State Cup Championship, while also leading two Richmond United boys teams to the ECNL National Quarterfinals. Maimone attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he played for the men’s soccer team while earning a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science. He later continued his education at Ohio University, earning a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences with a concentration in Soccer Coaching. He also holds a USSF A-Youth License and earned a Master’s in High Performance Football from MBP Coaches School, also known as the Coaches' Voice School.

- Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, Angela has been involved in the Mint Hill soccer community for over five years both professionally and as a volunteer. She currently serves as a Board Member for the Mint Hill Athletic Association. Prior to working in soccer full-time, she spent more than 15 years as a professional photographer.
