Since joining Independence in June 2023, Barroqueiro has made a lasting impact on the club through his leadership, passion for the game, and commitment to developing young athletes. His dedication to players, families, coaches, and staff has helped strengthen the club both on and off the field. Throughout his time at Independence, Barroqueiro played a key role in supporting the club's player pathway, mentoring coaches, and helping provide a positive experience for players as they progressed through the club. June 1, 2026 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) is excited to announce the addition of Prince Ojok to the club’s Technical Staff. Ojok will coach within the Pre MLS East program, serving players and families in the Matthews and Mint Hill areas while supporting the continued growth and development of those locations. Ojok brings extensive coaching, leadership, and player development experience to Charlotte Independence Soccer Club. Most recently, he served as Director at Charlotte Soccer Academy, where he oversaw day-to-day club operations, player development initiatives, coaching education, and membership growth while also coaching teams within the club. His previous experience includes leadership roles with AC CT Soccer Club and CT Rush Soccer Club, along with collegiate coaching experience as an Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Western CT State University. Holding both a USSF B License and UEFA B Coaching License, Ojok has built a reputation for creating positive, development-focused environments that emphasize technical growth, accountability, and long-term player progression. May 26, 2026 – Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) promotes Franco Stumbo to Technical Staff. Most recently, Stumbo contributed to the development of players within the club's Matthews State Competitive Program. In his new role, he will help lead player development and support the growth of the club's new competitive soccer program in the Mint Hill community. "I want to thank Charlotte Independence Soccer Club for this opportunity to continue providing the best possible experience for our players," said Franco Stumbo. "Growing up in a Uruguayan household, soccer and the Garra Charrua were fundamental parts of my upbringing. I always knew I wanted soccer to be part of my life, and I was willing to fight for that opportunity. I look forward to bringing that same intensity and passion as we launch our new competitive soccer program in the Mint Hill community." Before joining Independence Soccer last fall, Stumbo worked in pre-professional women's soccer as the goalkeeping coach for the Asheville City SC USL W League team. He also gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs at Warren Wilson College. "It did not take us long to realize that Franco is a hardworking and passionate coach," said Charlotte Independence Soccer Club Director of Soccer Neil Roberts. "He is committed to his players, his teams, and the program as a whole. His work ethic and drive align perfectly with our culture, and we are excited to have him take on a larger role within our staff." Stumbo is well versed in the evolving youth soccer landscape. His coaching experience includes working with girls’ programs at North Carolina FC Youth and boys’ programs at NC Fusion, giving him a diverse background in player development across multiple competitive environments. Stumbo currently holds a USSF C License.

May 16, 2026 – Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) hires Christopher Maimone to its MLS NEXT Homegrown staff. Most recently, Maimone served as the Director of Boys Player Development and MLS NEXT Homegrown Head Coach at Northern Virginia Alliance (NVA).  “I’m very thankful for the opportunity to join Charlotte Independence SC and become part of the MLS NEXT Homegrown staff,” said Christopher Maimone. “Charlotte Independence has built a strong reputation for creating a professional environment centered around player development, ambition, and long-term growth, which made this opportunity especially exciting for me. “Throughout my coaching journey, I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding players, families, and colleagues who have helped shape me both personally and professionally. I’m excited for this new challenge, and I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and helping players maximize their potential both on and off the field.” While at Northern Virginia Alliance, Maimone coached the 2011 and 2009 MLS NEXT Homegrown teams. As Director of Boys Player Development, he ensured players were consistently challenged within their development to prepare for MLS NEXT Homegrown competition and expectations. This included aligning and implementing the club’s philosophy, methodology, and competitive objectives across the program. His success in identifying individual player needs and helping players reach their full potential has led to athletes advancing to MLS academies, signing MLS NEXT Pro contracts, and competing within the NCAA landscape. “We are extremely excited to have Chris joining our staff here at the club. He has a strong presence on the field and is very experienced in individual growth and player development. Prior to joining Northern Virginia Alliance, Maimone spent a combined eight years at Richmond Strikers and Richmond United in multiple coaching and leadership roles, most recently serving as the Age Group Director and ECNL-RL Head Coach for Richmond Strikers. During his time there, he guided the Girls Richmond Strikers to an ECNL RL (VA) Championship and a Virginia State Cup Championship, while also leading two Richmond United boys teams to the ECNL National Quarterfinals. Maimone attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he played for the men’s soccer team while earning a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education, and Exercise Science. He later continued his education at Ohio University, earning a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences with a concentration in Soccer Coaching. He also holds a USSF A-Youth License and earned a Master’s in High Performance Football from MBP Coaches School, also known as the Coaches' Voice School.

May 5, 2026 - Charlotte NC - Independence Soccer congratulates Josh Routte on being named Associate Head Coach at Purdue University Fort Wayne 👏 Josh has been an integral part of the development of our goalkeepers and has overseen the Girls Regional Academy North program for the past two years. “Josh has been a huge part of the success we have had in the goalkeeping program over the past couple seasons, and selfishly we hate to see him leave. He has been a mainstay with the Girls Regional Academy program, where he has been instrumental in the development of our goalkeepers and staff as well. When Josh came on board, he made an immediate impact within the club, which is a testament to his dedication to the goalkeeping program,” said Director of Coaching – Goalkeeping Matt Brown. “As mentioned, we hate to see Josh leave, but we couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity for him and his family. We know Josh will continue to make an impact at the next level, and we look forward to following his journey.”

Chez brings a dynamic coaching style, strong player relationships, and a passion for development that aligns with the club’s mission of fostering growth both on and off the field. Known for his energy and commitment to his players, he has built a reputation for creating positive, competitive environments that help athletes reach their full potential. Chez consistently demonstrated an ability to connect with players while emphasizing technical development, game understanding, and character. In his new role, Chez will work closely with players and staff to continue building a strong developmental pathway and preparing athletes for high competitive programs in Mint Hill. “I've been developing players from the local Mint Hill area for 4 years with great success. With the backing of the CISC brand, access to top leagues, and being part of a much larger community, we feel we will now be able to offer the best soccer experience for our local players. I’m excited to get started and honored to wear the new badge,” said Echezuria. “Few, if anyone, has had a greater impact on the soccer community and players in our area of Charlotte than Coach Chez. May 4, 2026 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Independence Soccer Club is proud to announce the hiring of Ashley Williams as Director of Pre Girls Academy (Pre GA) ahead of the 2026-2027 season. In her new role, Williams will lead the club’s Pre GA program, focusing on preparing players for progression into high competitive programs while supporting their overall development both on and off the field. Williams brings extensive experience across the youth, collegiate, and pre-professional levels. She most recently served as the Girls Academy Director and U15 & U17 Head Coach at Skyline Elite Soccer Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she oversaw multiple teams competing in the Girls Academy Mid-Atlantic Conference while leading player and coach development initiatives. Prior to Skyline Elite, she spent two years with Richmond United as a Head Coach for U17 and U19 ECNL teams, while also serving as Operations Manager and College Recruiting Coordinator. Her experience also includes leading Richmond United Pro23 Women to a championship in 2021, along with coaching roles at North Carolina Courage, North Carolina FC Youth, and Randolph-Macon College. Williams holds a U.S. Soccer Talent Scout License Level II and was one of twelve female coaches selected nationwide for the program’s cohort, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with its objectives. She is also currently enrolled in the Girls Academy Credential of Coaching Excellence program, further demonstrating her commitment to continued growth and development within the game. Williams is a former collegiate student-athlete and team captain at the University of Richmond. She holds a Master’s degree in Sport Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a USSF A-Youth License.
