Charlotte Independence Soccer Club - Recreation Soccer

Welcome!

We are happy to see that you found your way back for another amazing conversation with us. Where we will take you through the action and place you, the reader, right at the center of fun as if you were there. So, sit back, turn that lamp on, or the brightness up on your phone because here we go.

You are probably wondering where we will be traveling to? That’s an easy one. Richard Barry Park on a Monday evening for opening night. 6 teams. 3 matches. 1 field.

Recreation Soccer is finally here.

One by one, parking spots began to fill up as the community was brought together for another memory maker. As the cars were placed into park and engines turned off, kids in the backseat kicked their feet in excitement. Were they kicking the seats in front of them? Maybe, but remember, today was the first game of the season. An opportunity build new relationships and develop skills. Don’t you remember the first time you were excited for something as a kid? The feeling of being all sugared up and ready to run free. When finally given the opportunity, you took off, not looking back. We remember. We see it everyday and it never gets old.

As you approached the field, children ran to their friends hugging one another while parents reunited for another season. Before game time, each team held a small practice to take each child through drills. One coach lined up their players to practice scoring. One by one, a child slowly dribbles up to the goal. Making sure not to get distracted from their surroundings. The leg goes back, and the shot is attempted and BAM. A goal is scored! From their viewpoint, this was all happening so fast. You can see the exhilaration as they are jumping up and down. For them, this is a big step in their development as an athlete. Once game time got closer, a game of tag broke loose. Was this part of the pre-game plan? We would say playing tag helps the players work on their agility and maneuver when being chased down. Add a ball into the mix and you get the game of soccer.

It was truly remarkable when all the games started. You can see the pure joy on each child’s face. You knew they were living the dream. Free to roam and have fun. One player was so excited that they were going in the opposite direction. Parents waving their hands in the air pointing where the player should be going. The moment was realized and those little legs made the turn. Honestly, we had hard time differentiating who was having more fun during the games. The parents or the kids. As the sun started to set, red and orange took over into the skies. Once the sun disappeared behind the trees, the games slowly came to an end. Each parent and child hugging and high fiving one another. While it was a competition, every single person on that field walked away as a winner with the effort they left. We are including you too parents. Without your support and commitment, there would be no players. For a Monday night it was perfect, and the best is still yet to come as the season continues. Till next time our friends, family, and community.

April 22, 2026 - Charlotte, NC - Charlotte Independence Soccer Club (CISC) is pleased to announce the addition of Angela Tucker as Mint Hill Member Services. A native of Charlotte, Tucker has been actively involved in the Mint Hill soccer community for over five years in both professional and volunteer roles. She currently serves as a Board Member for the Mint Hill Athletic Association and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Prior to her work in soccer, Tucker spent more than 15 years as a professional photographer. In her role, Tucker will support families throughout their club experience while helping connect players to the appropriate pathways within CISC. “I’m really grateful to be joining CISC because their focus on community involvement and player development is something I fully align with,” said Tucker. “I love helping families take that desire to see their player grow in soccer to the next level. As a mom of four boys, I know how hard it can be to make competitive sports work for everyone, and I truly enjoy being a partner with families in making that happen.” “When you think of someone who understands the importance of details, can see the big picture, and consistently puts in the work to keep things tracking in the right direction, you think of Angela,” said Director of Mint Hill Lowell Windon. “She always puts the interest of the players first, and we are very fortunate to have her on the team.” Tryouts will be held on April 24 at Veteran's Memorial Park for the Mint Hill location .
